What is it?
Acupuncture is an ancient medicine that involves inserting needles into the skin to activate the body to heal itself. The needles are sterile and as thin as a hair, they are used only once and then thrown away. It is common for a patient not to feel the needles at all or to feel a slight pinch but the sensation fades after a few seconds.
It’s a process
It is rare for a person to be completely better with one treatment. The acupuncturist can suggest a course of treatment based on your symptoms but we typically recommend that the patient be watchful of their condition. For example; if a patient feels better for a week after their treatment they should come once a week: two to three days = 2x a week, one day after their treatment 3 times a week.
All you need is yourself.
we tend to prefer loose fitting clothing as most of the needles will be placed from the knee down or from the elbow down. If you need your neck or shoulder worked on we do recommend tank tops, sleeveless shirts, and pony tails to keep your hair away from the area. Please avoid skinny jeans as they cannot be pushed up past your knee and turtlenecks (not usually an issue in Florida but hey we thought we’d mention it;).
You are more than welcome to bring a family member or friend to get treated with you (one of the benefits of group is you don’t have to try it alone)
Treatments typically last 45 minutes to an hour and side effects include deep relaxation, improved sleep, and digestion.
A group setting has many benefits
Affordable – since we are able to treat more people at once, we are able to lower our costs from $100 per treatment to a sliding scale
You can bring a friend – many people prefer to come with their friends and family, this helps strengthen the ties between us
More time – typically with other acupuncture clinics the physician must kick you out to get the room ready for the next patient, this means you’re only getting 20-30 minutes max with the needles. Since we have a revolving door of patients, patients get treated faster and get to stay relaxing or sleeping for longer.
BBCA is located close the the Boynton Beach mall and I-95. We currently have 5 chairs with room for more. We share our office with a CPA so when you enter the building we are the door to your right.
We use a sliding scale payment system of $15 to $40. This means you pay what you can afford and you let us know what that is. We do not ask about your income. Our only goal is that you get the treatment you need at a price you can afford.
